Updates on the  2020 Payments Canada Summit; the 2020 CPPO Symposium; the ATMIA Canada 2020 Conference; NAPCP 2020 Conference

OTTAWA, ON–(March 12)–Today, in consideration of directives from the Public Health Agency of Canada, and after consultation with multiple stakeholders and members, we have made the decision to cancel this year’s Payments Canada SUMMIT.

This was not a decision taken lightly, but a necessary one, to protect the health and well being of our sponsors, our delegates and our staff.

Payments Canada is responsible for the critical infrastructure to operate Canada’s clearing and settlement systems and the foundation of our operations is safety. Operational resilience is a key principle of our risk management strategy and we have protocols in place to effectively address and manage any major incident to ensure that our systems continue to run safely and soundly. This includes monitoring and responding to the evolving nature of COVID-19.

While we are disappointed that we will not be able to gather in-person this year, we are exploring alternative ways to best connect with and continue to engage with our payments community over this period.

CPPO Symposium

Thank you for supporting our 2020 Prepaid Symposium.

Considering public health concerns regarding the progression of COVID-19, we have decided to postpone the 2020 CPPO Prepaid Symposium to a later date. While the Canadian situation is still considered low risk, we feel this is the best option to prioritize the safety of all our attendees and mitigate any exposure to risks.

We are currently in the process of securing a new date for the Symposium, which will be communicated over the next two weeks, so kindly hold off from promoting the Symposium at the moment.

The CPPO Prepaid Symposium is the only premier event for the prepaid technology industry for professionals in fintech, banking, payments and government and we are working hard to providing attendees with the best event possible in 2020.

We greatly appreciate the support of our Canada Conference by you and your company.

Over the past few weeks, it has become clear that the world is facing an unprecedented challenge. Like you, ATMIA deeply cares and wants to do what is best to keep our members and staff safe and healthy. In response to the growing concerns from the COVID-19, ATMIA has decided to move the dates of the ATMIA Canada Conference 2020 that was to be held April 7-8 in Vancouver. The new dates are Sept 22-23, 2020. The event will remain at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Center in Vancouver. We are hopeful that the coronavirus will no longer be a threat at that time.

If you are registered for the event we will transfer your registration to the new dates. If the new dates of the conference do not work for you, please contact Brita Price and she will provide you a full refund. Registered speakers, we will be in contact with you in the next week to confirm that you are still able to present. I will be contacting the exhibitors and sponsors regarding this move as well.

If you had hotel reservations the hotel is going to move your reservation to the September dates and send you an email with your new reservation. If you have any questions regarding the hotel and reservations, please contact them directly, 604-331-1000.

2020 NAPCP Annual Conference Has Been Cancelled

After much deliberation and many conversations with our partners and advisors, the NAPCP has decided to cancel our Annual Commercial Card and Payment Conference, originally scheduled for April 6-9, 2020 in Las Vegas. This decision was not an easy one, but the unprecedented circumstances surrounding the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), along with recommendations from public health organizations, and the presidential declaration of a national emergency required us to take this drastic step. The most recent escalations of the coronavirus status impacted our decision:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has created guidelines advising community-based organizations to cancel gatherings of more than 250 people

On March 13, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency in the United States

We know how important our Annual Conference is to NAPCP members and subscribers, and to the hundreds of attendees, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors who have been preparing for and anticipating the event for months. Now that the decision has been made, we are starting to consider alternative methods of delivering the vital education and networking opportunities that the conference provides.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the many details that need to be addressed following this significant decision. We are committed to working through the current situation as quickly as possible. Please note that attendees must cancel their own travel and hotel reservations directly. We suggest that you review reservation policies as soon as possible.

We will communicate regularly with you via email, and you may also visit this webpage for updates.

Like you, we are disappointed that circumstances required us to take this drastic action, but it was the only way to ensure the safety of the NAPCP community. We are grateful for the outpouring of support you have shown to us and to each other in the previous days. The NAPCP is a vibrant and generous community.
